About the artist

Isabelle Reilo Riis (born 1990) in Bodø, Norway, started painting from a young age, and hasn’t stopped since.  

Being the daughter of an artist-mother, she grew up with art being a natural part of her life. As a child she was interested in all creative paths, especially singing and designing, but one day after returning from her Fashion design- studies in in London, she had a breakthrough with her painting and was completely hooked from then on.

She started exhibiting her art at the age of 19, and with great feedback and sales, she continued painting and having exhibitions parallel to her studies.

At age 25 she decided to leave her corporate job to dedicate all her time to creating art. She has had many solo exhibitions in Oslo and Lofoten during the years. Even opening her own gallery in Lofoten in 2014.

In 2018 she was given the title “Artist of the year”, from Kolben culture center. Check out her website to view her previous and upcoming exhibitions.

In Lofoten, her art reaches people from all over the world, as it is an island in Norway famous for its spectacular nature. So she’s been shipping her art to homes around the world for over a decade.

In 2024 she discovered the beautiful Island of Gods, Bali. Which she quickly fell in love with. Just like Lofoten, there is so much beauty and nature, therefore so much inspiration to collect.

She finds the contrast between city life in Oslo and elsewhere, and the nature life in Lofoten and Bali to be a perfect harmony and very inspirational. Giving her the opportunity to appreciate each place with its own unique aspect.

Isabelle’s work mainly consists of abstract paintings, with some figurative elements. Her inspiration is taken from the impressions and feelings she gets from life. Capturing the intangible with the use of depths, color, contrasts, layered with poetic strokes.

One could say that the feel of her paintings is in the positive sphere. Paintings that radiate positive energy, with hints of a nostalgic longing, perhaps to an otherworldly realm.

Knowing she is fascinated by the inner world, and our soul’s journey, it is easy to see that reflected in her work.
